The 3 Myths Of Branding

Branding is an important aspect for every business. As a result, it is a constant evolving concept as new trends come into existence. However, along with time and the evolution of branding, there has come about certain myths. As with any myth, it either impedes or improves a practice. Here are the myths below:

1. Your Logo Is Your Brand

The starting point of any branding process is the creation of the Logo, consequently, many have come to ignorantly think that their Logo is their brand. The truth though is that the Logo is only the symbol of the brand. It represents the brand, it is there as a means by which the public will remember your business by. The service that the customer receives is what builds the brand, when they speak of the brand they will not be referring to the logo. Instead, they will either be praising the service or product they received, the company culture and the overall image of the company. This is what comprises the brand.

2. Branding Is Expensive

This is a very common myth with regards to branding. Many entrepreneurs think that branding is an expensive matter and therefore cannot afford it. What you cannot afford though is to not brand. While there are companies that charge an arm and a leg, there are also companies that offer tailored services to small and medium sized businesses.  Anything that provides a chance to reach more clients and generate revenue has to be prioritized. If by branding your company, you will generate R15000 more in revenue, whereas it cost you R5000 to do it, then it has to be done.

3. It Is For Big Companies

The reason big companies became big companies is because they were doing things that other small companies were not doing. And branding is one of them. Branding gives identity to an organization and overlaps into marketing constantly. It serves as a tool to generate more revenue which often equals growth and expansion. So, by not branding, you may as well settle to remaining a small company. Every company needs an identity and marketing.

Branding is a important aspect of every organization. When the right branding efforts have been made, the organization benefits positively. You cannot afford not to brand.
